Latino Expo and Education Conference, 10/20-21

LATINO EXPO AND LATINO PARENTS EDUCATION CONFERENCE TO BE HELD IN OCTOBER

Newark, New Jersey- The Eighth Annual Latino Expo and Parent Education Conference will be held October 20-21 of this year, at the Best Western Robert Treat Hotel in Newark.

The conference and expo, presented by The Latino Institute, Inc., a private nonprofit educational organization, convenes over two thousand parents and Latino consumers to discuss education issues in a workshop and conference format. The event is one of the largest indoor gatherings of Latino consumers in the tri-state area. The expo presents both educational and commercial exhibitors introducing their products and services, and the programmatic mix includes a college fair for students, and a job fair for those who are seeking employment opportunities.

The conference, on its eighth year, traditionally presents performances by folkloric groups, mariachis and tropical music. Luncheon participants, on Friday October 21st, will be regaled with salsa and other tropical tunes by the Luisito Ayala Salsa Band.

“There is no charge for the event, and we invite Hispanic parents, and the community in general to visit with us on October 21st, commencing at 9:00 a.m., we have a very dynamic and interesting group of speakers and fabulous workshops. The workshops provide for parental skills, and seek to empower our parents and our students on their rights and responsibilities”, explained Carmen Torres, Conference Coordinator, “however, we would like schools and parents to communicate with us their participation.”

The conference program includes a breakfast, workshops, and the “Unity Luncheon”. Keynote speakers include Vince Giordano, Executive Director of the New Jersey Education Association and Dr. Grisel Lopez-Diaz, a renowned expert on world languages.

“There are still opportunities for prospective exhibitors to join us for the expo. We have very reasonable rates and they will have a unique venue to reach Latino consumers. Please contact us at 973-273-0273 or contact us via email at carmentorres50@verizon.net to reserve a booth,” added Ms. Torres.

The event’s sponsors include the New Jersey Education Association, La Fe Food Products, PSE&G, Verizon Communications, and the North Jersey Federal Credit Union.

For additional information, please contact Ms. Torres, as detailed above.
